The Native American flute is one of the rare instruments that can hold a wedding ceremony entirely on its own. No backing track, no amplification stack — just breath, cedar, and air. It carries through outdoor spaces and stills indoor ones. It draws guests inward without ever drawing attention from the couple.
Where the flute fits
In a typical ceremony, the flute can carry the moments that need music most. Couples most often place it in one of these places — sometimes all three:
- Processional — a single slow melody as guests stand and the wedding party walks in.
- Ceremony underscore — quiet, sustained tones beneath the vows, ring exchange, or unity moment (sand, wine, hand-tying).
- Recessional — a brighter, more open piece as the couple walks out and the room rises.
- Cocktail hour — 30 to 60 minutes of atmospheric flute as guests gather and move toward the reception.
Song selection
Each performance is built around the couple's preferences. I work primarily from a repertoire of traditional Native American flute songs, original compositions, and reflective interpretations of classical, cinematic, and world music. Where a specific song matters to you and it suits the instrument, I'll learn it for the ceremony. Where you want me to choose, I'll match the music to the room, the season, and what I sense in the moment.

Frequently asked
Can the flute be heard outdoors without a microphone?
For ceremonies of up to about sixty guests in calm outdoor conditions, the Native American flute carries naturally. For larger groups, windy beach settings, or amplified venues, I bring or coordinate a simple condenser microphone to ensure every guest hears clearly.
Do you play during the actual vows?
Only if you'd like it. Many couples prefer the vows in silence and the flute as an arrival or departure — others love sustained low tones underneath the spoken words. We'll decide together based on the feeling you want.
Will you learn a specific song for our ceremony?
Yes, where it suits the instrument. I'll learn one custom song as part of the standard wedding fee; additional custom arrangements can be added as part of the
Custom Music offering.
Do you travel for destination weddings?
Yes. I'm currently based in Sydney and frequently travel throughout the Asia-Pacific region. From December 2026 I'll be based in the United States and available across North America. Travel is quoted separately.
How far in advance should we book?
For weekend weddings in peak season, three to six months ahead is ideal. Shorter notice is often possible — please reach out and I'll let you know.
